Measurement · Instruments

Make a question explicit enough to examine.

CCI develops working instruments when doing so helps expose assumptions, variables or decisions. Creating an instrument does not establish that it is valid.

Instrument maturity

CONCEPT → WORKING DRAFT → FIELD TEST → REVISED → VALIDATED. Movement is not automatic or necessarily linear. An instrument may remain a draft, return to an earlier stage, be replaced by an existing method, or be retired.

Clinical Capacity State Assessment

What is the present state of available clinical capability relative to the work?

Concept / Working Development

Expansion Threshold Decision Matrix

When does additional meaningful clinical demand justify expansion of capability?

Concept / Working Development

Marginal Demand Absorption Assessment

Where does the next increment of meaningful clinical work go before formal capacity is added?

Concept / Prior Art Under Review

Capability Requirement

What amount and characteristics of professional capability does the work require?

Concept / Adaptation Under Review

Delivery Constraints / Architecture Fit

Which delivery arrangements can satisfy the requirement under real clinical and operational constraints?

Working Question

Fractional Capacity Titration Protocol

If capability can be supplied in adjustable increments, what evidence should cause it to be maintained, increased, decreased or replaced?

Concept

Existing methods come first

Instrument development should stop when an existing method already solves the problem adequately. Publication here means a tool is useful enough to expose to examination—not that it is validated, generally applicable or superior.
